Values of Aiken Sports

Sports at Aiken New Tech are extremely important to our culture. Many kids in public schools don’t have ways to get noticed by colleges at all. Our school’s best three-point shooter Justin Hawkins said, “those sports allow CPS kids who aren’t looked at very much to prosper and gain more recognition.” So other than having fun on a field or court, we can receive opportunities to go to college too

Many kids in our schools use their free time to be in dangerous places. It causes kids to be caught up in sticky situations and some may not show up the next day. Falcon safety and point guard P.J. Feagin hit this topic and said, “it keeps everybody off the streets, well minded in the classroom and basically gets kids out of the struggle.” Yes sports may be a lot of work, but that hard work results in positivity not negativity.

Some kids growing up always look at the down side of life due to many things. One of the big reasons is what’s going on at home. Offensive player of the year and first team all conference guard Jaiden Arnold spoke about this. “Sports are important to Aiken and definitely the community because they give kids another way out and it is something fun to do that keeps you out of trouble.”

Overall there are countless reasons to keep sports around and support them further. From keeping kids off the streets to sending them to great colleges it’s a great positive to the lives of these athletes. Yes some kids may not choose sports as their way of life but, the ones who do never regret their decisions. When joining a sports team you join a group of friends and, better yet, a family.
