Aiken basketball has had a lot of ups and downs, but since Head Varsity Coach Derell Black came into the program, it has been very good. Last season the Aiken Varsity team won CMAC (Cincinnati Athletic Metro Conference) for the first time in a very long time. They definitely have plans to win CMAC again this year. If you want to learn more or see what we post daily about the
time you can view the team page on instagram( AikenBBALL). Their page is very helpful; it tells you everything, tryouts, stats, daily news, etc.
Senior player on the varsity team, James Burnett, says, ”My goal this year is to get a ring and win CMAC again before I leave. I want to make a name for myself at Aiken. Hopefully we get the job done and stay on track.” Another senior player, Jaiden Arnold said, ”I am very sure that we are going to win CMAC for the 2nd time. Back to back? That would be very cool. I would love for us to get a ring this year also.” These two players have also received Player of the Year. I feel like they are going to live up to their promises. In the future I believe Aiken will win a ring and CMAC. I am also on the team so I am 100% sure that we will live up to our standards and make sure we seal the deal. We have so many goals for this season, we want to go out every game and dominate every team we play. We are going to play hard and make sure we stay focused. Before you are an athlete the main thing is to have your grades together. That’s the most important thing because that is what college coaches love to see: that you are doing amazing in the classes before the court. It shows you care about your academics and not just basketball.
