What should I wear?
Have you ever been late because you don’t know what to wear? Yeah, me too. Well people who wear uniforms don’t have to. I’m talking about schools specifically. Trying to find the right outfit can be frustrating sometimes. So don’t think uniforms are so bad. Here are some tips that could make you more comfortable.
Safety and Self-esteem
Wearing school uniforms helps identify students and helps tell them from outsiders. But why would I want this? This favors potential threats and unauthorized access. Parents care about their child’s self-esteem and confidence. Well, uniforms promote self-confidence and feeling as they belong. Ke’asijah from Aiken High School says “In my opinion it’s boring. You look at everybody else instead of demonstrating your true self. This may be true. Uniforms may block the potential to express themselves.
Discipline
Wearing a uniform and following the rules help you be a leader and have discipline. It may help reduce anxiety. “It can create an environment where discipline is emphasized,” says
says one school website. It includes parental engagement. Students are aware of what they need to wear to school instead of figuring it out!
Why do I care?
Uniforms have a big impact at my school. We are supposed to be a uniform school, but some claim they still wear what they want. But the school wants you to follow the rules and see you succeed. One teacher from Aiken says “I definitely see why schools have them. It’s a good way to set up expectations for a career and work life.” Even though students don’t get to wear what they want, It’s a good practice for the future and may help with your mental health.
Conclusion
Every school has their own way of showing school spirit. It’s not to say all schools will or will not wear uniforms. For more information contact school administration or the principal.
