Support Social Enterprise Sunday with Awaken At Aiken

Friday is “Black,” Saturday is “Small,” Monday  is “Cyber”…how about Sunday being the  opportunity to support “Social Enterprise.”  

What is a social enterprise? Well, according to Investopedia, Social Enterprise “is defined as a business with specific social objectives that  serve its primary purpose. Social enterprises  seek to maximize profits while maximizing  benefits to society and the environment, and  the profits are principally used to fund social  programs.” Awaken At Aiken is our Agriculture  Career Tech Pathway CTSO (Career Tech  Student Organization) that employs the social  enterprise principles. Our students source our  coffee ethically so people are provided a fair  and livable wage and the land is farmed with  sustainable practices the world over. Our  students purchase and roast the coffee  themselves thus serving the social purpose of  teaching problem-solving technical skills while  enhancing independent artisan creativity.
