Aiken Athletic Update 12/12

Mr. Brownfield

Recent Events:

Girls Basketball dropped a tough game to Western Hills last week, 42-22. They did, however, bounce back and take down the Lady Senators of Taft in The Nest on Wednesday by a large margin! The Lady Falcons were led by Destiny Newman’s 21 points and Charli McCray’s 11 points.

Boys Basketball battled with the Bulldogs on Tuesday and kept the game fairly close in the first half, but after some struggles in the third quarter, they ultimately fell to Woodward, 73-58.

Both the boys and girls basketball teams hosted CCPA on Saturday here at Aiken. The Falcons and Lady Falcons brought out the brooms for a sweep! On the back of another 21 points from Destiny Newman and 14 points from Kin’Deja Hope, the girls won 48-25. The boys’ game would be considerably closer, but with strong performances from Dionte Collins (16pts) and Shaleyk Perry (10pts) the Falcons would come out victorious, 58-52.

JH Basketball would split their games with Woodward on Thursday. The girls fell 21-17, while the boys came out on top 48-23.

Wrestling was a little short handed on Saturday, but did not let that hold them down! Seneca Richard would place 4th in the 120lb weight Elisha Lee would go on to place 4th in the 165lb weight class.

The Aiken Band had a tremendous showing at the Battle of the Bands at Hughes on Saturday coming away with first place finishes for both the band and drumline! Read more about it here!
