Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture. This month highlights the importance of Latinas and Latinos that are in the United States. Many of these Latinos and Latinas are leaders. Some of those leaders are Cesar Chavez, Dr. Ellen Ochoa, Sonia Sotomayor, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and many more. One great way to celebrate
this impactful month is by researching these different Latino leaders. On top of that, these leaders don’t do the same thing; there are artists, musicians,
astronauts, actors, performers, photographers, and much more.
As Hispanic Heritage Month is going on, people celebrate by hosting concerts, parades, runs, festivals, and art exhibits. During those festivals, they eat a lot
of good traditional foods like hallaca, arroz con pollo, empanadas, pozole, and lots more. Numerous dishes like these are only made on special occasions like
Hispanic Heritage Month, Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead, and quinceaneras.
If you don’t know much about this inspiring month, there are places that have plenty of information to learn. Those places are the National Museum of the
American Latino’s educational resources, Smithsonian Institution Hispanic Heritage Month Events and Resources, or just the Hispanic Heritage Month
website. All of these places are a great resource to learn about this month.
